A new V-shape scanner: care for the book, attention to detail

2dA is expanding its heritage digitisation capabilities with a new V-shape scanner. A V-shaped book cradle, two high-quality camera systems and carefully controlled lighting bring together care for the original and detailed image capture.

Old books still have much to tell us. A fine ink line, a subtle variation in colour or a detailed illustration can matter for research and conservation. This addition is an investment in making those details visible.

Meet our new V-shape scanner

The film shows the scanner, the book cradle and the capture of an open book. The film is in Dutch.

Support shaped around the book

The V-shaped cradle supports the book without requiring it to be opened completely flat. Adjustable glass plate pressure provides control over contact with the pages. The condition of each book remains central to the choice of working method.

Capturing detail for future use

At the heart of the system are two high-quality cameras developed for professional document and heritage digitisation. High resolution, precision optics and controlled lighting help capture fine lines, variations in colour and detailed illustrations.

Technology and expertise together

A good digital image starts with attention to the original. The capabilities of the scanner and careful handling of the material belong together. This helps us create digital images that can support the study and understanding of a collection.

More opportunities to explore heritage

A researcher able to look more closely. A student able to study a rare edition. A story reaching a new audience. These are the possibilities we invest in at 2dA. To discuss what this technology could mean for your collection, please get in touch.
